Bill joined GBU in August 2018. He has over 30 years of executive leadership and consultative experience, serving in positions such as Chairman of the Board, President, Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer, and Chief Financial Officer at major life insurance, annuity, and long-term care insurance carriers, including Penn Treaty, Prudential, Provident Mutual and Covenant Life. Mr. Hunt has also served individuals and families as a financial advisor through his affiliations with Pillar Wealth Advisors, 1847 Financial, and North American Life Plans. He specialized in a broad range of financial planning activities that focused on the growth, protection, and optimal distribution of client wealth.
He began his career with the big eight public accounting firm, Touche Ross, which is now part of Deloitte and Touche. Throughout his career, he has provided useful empowering leadership and mentorship to hundreds of insurance professionals. He has dedicated his career to serving and protecting the financial interests of others.
Bill graduated from St. Joseph University’s Bachelor of Sciences curriculum in Accounting and earned his MBA from Widener University in Chester, Pennsylvania.
Matt was appointed as GBU’s National Vice President 18 years ago in 2001. Before being hired by GBU, he served six years as the United Lutheran Society’s National President, another Pittsburgh-domiciled fraternal society. Matt’s duties at GBU encompass oversight of the full activities of the GBU Fraternal Department. In serving the fraternal industry, Matt has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Fraternal Alliance for eight years and the New Jersey & New York Fraternal Alliance Board of Directors for nine years. Both of these organizations are comprised of officers of licensed fraternal societies doing business in these states.
In the year 2000, Matt served as President of the Fraternal Societies of Greater Pittsburgh (FSGP) and was awarded the Fraternalist of the Year in 2011. The FSGP is an association of fraternal societies based in and around the Pittsburgh area. Pittsburgh has the most domiciled fraternal organizations of any city in the United States.
Matt has a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Duquesne University located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Tim joined GBU in October 2017 as the Investment Manager. In December of 2018, he assumed the title and responsibilities of Vice President and Chief Investment Officer. Tim’s responsibilities include managing the $3.3 billion fixed-income portfolio, the investment accounting functions, and relationships with external investment advisors. In his previous work at Highmark Health, he served as director of portfolio management focused on capital preservation and income generation. In his 24-year career with Highmark, Tim served in the Treasury department. His responsibilities included cash management, portfolio management, and banking relationships with money center and regional banks.
Tim earned the CTP (Certified Treasury Professional) Certification in 1998 and is currently a CTP holder. The Association of Financial Professionals awards the CTP credential after passing a certification exam and verifying suitable employment within the finance industry. The CTP credential demonstrates global standards for financial excellence.
Tim graduated from the University of Pittsburgh’s Bachelor of Arts, Economics, and Bachelor of Sciences curriculum in Business Administration in 1993. In 1995, Tim earned his MBA from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Lesley Mann is the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) at GBU Financial Life. As CMO, Lesley is responsible for developing and implementing GBU Financial Life’s marketing, product, and distribution capabilities. She champions the GBU mission to provide superior portfolio products and services to grow the member base while enhancing their quality of life.
Lesley brings over 25 years of financial services experience with a focus on Insurance & Annuity marketing and distribution. Prior to Joining GBU, Lesley served as the CMO and Head of Distribution for Knighthead Annuity & Life, where she was a founding leader who drove the growth of the company to over $2 Billion in assets under management. Before Knighthead Annuity, Lesley spent 20 years with Prudential Financial in many capacities. Her most recent role was the SVP, Relationship Management for Prudential’s annuity business, where she was responsible for the management, business development, sales, and marketing for the firm’s 300 institutional clients. In that role, she grew sales from just under $10 billion a year to over $21 Billion, becoming the largest distributor of annuities in the industry.
As a senior executive, Lesley’s passion is around growing, developing, and evolving businesses while leveraging the strengths that already exist in the company. She works to understand the culture, the business framework, and people, which has shaped her determination to build high performance and successful organizations. Lesley holds a B.A. In Economics & Political Science from Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA.
Debbie has been with GBU for 39 years. As V.P. of Operations, she leads the I.T., Customer Service, and New Business/Underwriting areas. Debbie has managed the migration of multiple technical platforms and administration software. In addition, she has led the teams that on-boarded company data from GBU’s four fraternal acquisitions. She is the lead on GBU’s Cyber Security Team and is a member of the ERM and Compliance Team. During her time at GBU, Debbie has worked with all operational teams and participated in strategic planning, product development, and finance and analytical projects.
Debbie graduated from the Computer Technology Institute of Pittsburgh and has her Associates in Insurance Regulatory Compliance (AIRC) industry designation.
Doug became GBU Financial Life’s controller in August of 2011. Doug holds an active CPA license and has 31 years of fraternal and commercial life insurance experience. Doug started his career in 1988 when working at Reddinger Stoker and Company, where he audited several fraternal life insurance companies, including GBU Financial Life. After working in public accounting for six years, Doug worked for a fraternal life insurance company where he was the controller for 12 years.
Before coming to GBU Financial Life, Doug was the financial planning and analysis manager at H.M. Insurance Group, a subsidiary of Highmark. While at H.M. Insurance Group, Doug developed the forecast for seven companies and the operating budget for over 90 cost centers. Doug also worked on AM Best reporting and assisted the CFO with various internal and external reporting projects.
Doug graduated from Robert Morris University with a Bachelor of Science curriculum in Accounting and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
